A few years ago, and without me knowing it, we started what has become an annual trip. This year was the best one yet.

We fueled up with breakfast, take the ferry from Cape May, NJ to Lewes, Delaware. There's an obligatory orange crush to start the day — non-negotiable at this point — then bike through Cape Henlopen State Park. Rehoboth for lunch and shopping. Dewey Beach for live music and another orange crush. We laughed. We told stories. We danced. There was a snafu getting to the ferry this year that could have derailed everything. It didn't. One call to a bike rental store and we were back on itinerary inside ten minutes.

On the ferry home, we were quiet. Tired, yes. But mostly just sitting with the most gorgeous sunset and each other. It's the kind of quiet that only happens with people you really trust.

My answer:

The bike ride. It keeps getting better because of the comittment we have to it.
