My son bought a car this week.

He championed the process from start to finish. Research on gas mileage, maintenance costs, safety ratings. Went to the dealership alone, test drove a few different cars, negotiated with the salesperson, got his own insurance, walked out with the keys.

A few days later we were headed to the grocery store and he offered to drive. I had a coffee in my hand.

"I have a no drink policy in my car."

I have been driving that kid around with snacks and spilled juice boxes and full gatorade bottles for almost two decades. Now I'm the one getting told the rules.

I didn't argue. I left the coffee on the kitchen table like I was told.

THE REFLECTION

What I Actually Do Now.

I spent years waiting for the right conditions to take care of myself. Turns out the abbreviated version works just fine, and so does showing up for things that are just mine.

If you know someone who'd love this, send it to them.

That's the whole ask.

There's something in it for you too.

Details below.

My answer:

Prioritizing sleep. I used to say "I'll sleep when I'm dead" and "sleep is for the weak." Now I'm in bed by ten and not even a little sorry about it.
