When the Knicks won last week, New York lost its mind.
Strangers hugged each other in the streets. Car horns blared until dawn. People who had never met celebrated like they'd known each other forever.
There's something about a shared thing that makes strangers feel like family.
Next week I'm going to a World Cup game. Six matches are being played in Philadelphia this summer, and I'll be in the stands for one of them. I don't particularly care who wins. I'm going for the feeling. That specific, irreplaceable thing that happens when thousands of people show up for the same reason, forget they're strangers, and become, just for a few hours, family.

TODAY’S PICKS
THE FEATURE
Are You a Hedgehog or a Fox?
One big thing, deeply. Or many things, broadly. Which one are you?.
THE REFLECTION
She Didn't Ask What I Needed. She Just Figured It Out.
One phone call. A schedule. Seven people who showed up, no questions asked. This is what friendship looks like when it counts.
Just Between Us.
Every morning this week I've been out on my bike, coffee in hand, before the world gets loud. This playlist is the whole reason it works.
THE WILDCARD
The Most New York Cup You've Never Thought About.
The blue and white paper coffee cup that's been in every New York deli since 1963. There's a whole story behind it. Better than you'd expect.
If you know someone who'd love this, send it to them.
That's the whole ask.
There's something in it for you too.
Details below.
My answer:
I'm proud to say I have a few spreadsheet-expert friends. And 100%, I would let them.
